GENERAL DESCRIPTION
It is a low-molecular-weight, dry acrylic acid copolymer designed to provide cuttings encapsulation and clay dispersion inhibition. It is designed for use in fluids based on fresh and saline water environments. It provides minimal viscosity contribution, and can enhance filtration properties.

APPLICATION and ADVANTAGE
It provides excellent cutting encapsulation by adsorbing onto the clay surfaces and forming a protective film that prevents cutting from sticking to each other or to the shaker screens. It is effective in a wide range of base brine including seawater, saturated NaCl and KCl, but should not be used in calcium brines.

SM-8 also has the following features:
• Provides excellent cutting encapsulation and limits cutting dispersion
• Enhances removal of drill solids by reducing dispersion tendencies
• Minimal contribution to the viscosity of the system
• For use in KCl, NaCl or fresh water, easily added to the active system through a premix
• Provides improved shale stabilization
